French bodies ask EU to boycott Israel By: Nabil Raza PARIS, France: About twenty French organizations and societies have urged the European Union to boycott Israel and send international forces to protect Palestinians from the atrocities being perpetrated by Israel. In a statement issued here, the organizations described Israel as a colonial country that denied Palestinians of their legitimate right to live in their homeland peacefully. They also underlined the need for urgent international intervention to protect the Palestinian people as well as to end Israeli occupation and to destroy the separation wall being erected by Israel in the West Bank. The organizations also urged the European Union to end all agreements signed with Israel and to hold an international conference with the objective of realizing a just and peaceful settlement of the Palestinian issue. It also condemned the policy of the US President George W Bush in supporting the aggressive measures of Israel Prime Minister Arial Sharon. Meanwhile, Israeli Police detained Sari Nusseibeh, the president of the Palestinian al-Quds university and prominent Palestinian peace campaigner, Wednesday for employing Palestinians who did not have the necessary entry permits into Israel.
