800,000 arrive to Karbala in last 24hrs alone as Arbaeen nears By: Ismail Zabeeeh HOLY CITY OF KARBALA, Iraq: AS Arbaeen-e-Husseini approaching, mourning Programs continued on Monday in the holy city of Karbala that houses Harmayn Sharifayn – holy Shrines of Al-Imam al-Hussein (p) and Hazerat al-Abbas (p) – as well as other Iraqi cities. According to reports on Monday, April 5, as much as 800,000 mourning pilgrims have arrived to this holy city over the last 24 hours alone. Despite March 2 bloody attacks on Ashoura Processions in the holy city of Karbala and also in Kazemayn, home to the holy mausoleums of Al-Imam Mousa Al-Kazem (p) and Al-Imam Muhammad Taqi (p) in which about 271 mourners were martyred, several million mourners are expected to converge at this holy city to commemorate the occasion of Arbaeen, or the fortieth day after the martyrdom of Al-Imam Al-Hussein (p), Holy Prophet Muhammad (p)’s grandson.
