‘Najaf situation main factor in Ayat Sistani heart ailment’

LONDON: Sayyed Jawwad Ash-Shehristani, sole representative and son-in-law of Ayatullah Sayyed Ali As-Sistani has said the later is much worried and dejected regarding the critical situation in An-Najaf Al-Ashraf – holy city of Najaf -.

Shehristani added that Ayatullah Sistani desires to be in the midst of the Iraqi nation in its current ordeal. He said Ayatullah As-Sistani will return to Najaf from London soon after the improvement of his health.

The health of Ayatullah As-Sistani is related to Iraq situation particularly the sacrilege of Najaf, so with the improvement of the situation his health improves, added Ash-Shehristani.

Ayatullah Sistani had appealed US forces and Moqtada As-Sadr’s Mehdi militia to quit Najaf in order to protect the sanctity of the holy city but his appeal was defied.

During recent clashes between the two that are continued for 6th consecutive day, the golden dome of the holy shrine of Imam Ali (A.S.) suffered damage. Soon after the beginning of clashes and damage to the shrine last week, news of Ayatullah Sistani heart ailment surfaced.
