Bahrain religious scholars hail Holy City peace deal By: Ali Al-Qadumi MANAMA, Bahrain: Bahraini clerics have swiftly welcomed Friday's peace deal in the holy city of Najaf calling off a sit-in mounted to express solidarity with Najaf Marjaiyah. “We welcome the agreement and call on the Iraqi government to comply with it, promptly tackle the consequences of the brutal attacks on Najaf and compensate all victims,” said a statement issued by a committee formed by three prominent clerics named Sheikh Issa Qassem, Jawad Al-Wedaai and Abdullah Al-Ghrifi. They stressed the need for US forces to withdraw from Najaf and all holy cities as quickly as possible. END |
