Arab League conference on ‘Islam in European textbooks’

CAIRO, Egypt: The Arab League is set to host an international conference under the theme “Arab-European Dialogue: Image of Islam in School History Textbooks.”

The conference is scheduled for December 12 – 14.

Participating in the organization of the conference are such bodies as European Union (EU), the Arab Educational, Cultural; and Scientific Organization (ALESCO).

According to the Director of the Dialogue Department at the League the conference is aimed at correcting mistakes concerning the image of Islam that are contained in history textbooks in several European countries.

Taking part in the conference will university dons and experts from several Arab countries in addition to curriculum inspectors from a number of European countries plus representatives from UNESCO and other concerned bodies.
