Biennial Islamic world fair attracts masses By: Hossein Yazdgardi TEHRAN, Iran: First Islamic World Poster Biennial exhibition being held in the Iranian capital city of Tehran is drawing large number of visitors from all walks of life. The month-long exhibition was inaugurated in the end of November by Iran’s President Muhammad Khatami. He visited different sections of the exhibition and said that art was the most eloquent medium of expression as well as the most impressive means of enhancing dialogue among civilizations. World countries including Iraq, Canada, the United States, Austria, Germany, Turkey, Bangladesh, Lebanon, Egypt, Syria, Japan, France and Britain are participating in the exhibition. END Iran admits terror convictions By: Sheikh Muhammad Khurasani TEHRAN, Iran: For the first time on Sunday, Iran acknowledged that it has convicted some Iranian nationals of supporting al-Qaida saying the number was fewer than five. Talking to newsmen, Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Hamid Reza Asefi told: “A few pro-al-Qaida Iranian nationals have been tried and convicted.” Their number, he said, is less than “the fingers on one's hand,” he said, according to the official Islamic Republic News Agency.
