Ceremonial washing of Ka'aba held ahead of Hajj By: Abdulali HOLY MAKKAH, Saudi Arabia: The venerated Ka'aba was ceremonially washed on Monday morning with the Governor of Holy Makkah Region, ambassadors from Islamic countries, a number of high-ranking Saudi officials and others took part in the ceremony. The walls of the Ka'aba are sprinkled with rose and Zamzam water. The Ka'aba is washed twice every year, while a new shroud is put on once every year. The Emir of Holy Makkah Region Prince Abdul Majid bin Abdul Aziz said following the washing of the Ka'aba that the new projects that have been complete in the holy cities of Makkah and Madina are meant to serve the cause of Islam and those who come to the Grand Mosque and to the Prophet (peace be upon him and his pure progeny)'s Mosque in Holy Madina.
