Ayat Al-Hakim spotlights significance of Eid El-Ghadir

HOLY CITY OF NAJAF, Iraq: Ayatullah Sayyed Muhammad Saeed Al-Hakim has greeted the faithful on the auspicious occasion of Eid El-Ghadir, which Allah has bestowed upon Muslims, while highlighting the importance of this great feast.

In a message issued on Eid, the Ayatullah said the day when Allah perfected His religion and completed His blessing is the day of Eid as Aa’immah from the progeny of Prophet (p) emphasized on this. And it is reported from the Aa’immah (p) that holy Prophet Muhammad (p) had advised Imam Ali (p) to take this day for Eid.

Another hadith tells that the prophets (p) ordered their testamentary executors to observe the day when the Prophet Muhammad (p)’s testamentary executor will be made as Eid, Ayatullah Al-Hakim said adding that Eid El-Ghadir is the greatest of all Eids in line with the traditions of Aa’immah (p) because it is the Eid of Wilayah and ‘Wilayah’ is one of five obligations upon which Islam is based.

Zararah reported from Imam Baqer (p) as saying: “Islam has its basis on five things: Salah (prayer), Zakah, Hajj, Fasting and Wilayah”. Zararah then asked Imam (p): which of these is the most highest in rank? Imam (p) said: “Wilayah, because it is their key…”

Ayatullah Al-Hakim further said that Muslims on this great day should renew their oath of allegiance for the Commander of Faithful Imam Ali (p) by his Zyarah, or the visit, even though from far, if it is not possible from near. He said Muslims should greet each other on this auspicious occasion and celebrate the day.

This month of Zulhijjah is very important as pilgrimage falls in it as well as several occasions link with Ahlul Bayt (p) and some only with Imam Ali (p) other than Eid El-Ghadir that include Eid of Mobahelah, the day when Imam Ali (P) gave his ring in charity while he was on his knees during prayer and then Allah revealed the Ayah ..”innama waliyo komullah…’, then the day when Imam Ali (p), Sayyedah Faiemah (p), Imam Hasan (p) and Imam Hussein (p) kept fast for three days and their charity exactly at the time of iftar and then coming down of a table upon them from heaven and revelation of Surah Hal ataa…’.

Therefore, Muslims should celebrate these days, Ayatullah Al-Hakim said.
