Grand festivals mark Eid Al-Ghadir in Syria

By: Sultan Ahmed

DAMASCUS, Syria: Like other countries, Eid Al-Ghadir was also celebrated in Syria with flocks attending the grand festivals, ehtifalaat and galas held to mark the occasion.

Throngs converged on the holy shrines of Sayyedah Zaynab (p), the daughter of Imam Ali (p), and Sayyedah Sakina (p), daughter of Imam Hosayn (p) in Damascus.

There at the holy mausoleums, special amaal of Eid were performed, eulogies were recited, candies and sweats were distributed and greetings were offered to the holy members of the holy family of holy Prophet (p).

Similar gatherings were also held at the hosayniyaat, mosques and offices of Maraje Uzzam in the country.

Al-Haj Mehdi Mash opened a program at the office of Ayatullah Shirazi with recitation of holy Quran. Sayyed Adnan Al-Mousawi presented eulogies and then Sheikh Jalal Mash addressed on the philosophy of Day of Ghadir. He highlighted the topic of Imamate and its meaning as well as wilayah and obligation to follow it.

Sheikh Jalal Mash said that we should celebrate this week of the last month of Islamic calendar as “Week of Imamah & Wilayah” because of great occasions that include Eid Al-Ghadir on 18 Dhul-Hijjah, Eid Al-Mobahilah on 24 Dhul-Hijjah, Day of Wilayah and Charity with The Ring, and revelation of Surah Dahr in praise of Ahlul Bayt (p).

Special feasts and banquets were arranged by followers of Ahlul bayt (p) to mark the Ghadir Festival.
