Lebanese Shiite leader calls for end to extremism By: Karim Tellawi BEIRUT, Lebanon: The deputy chairman of the Shia Islamic Council of Lebanon Sheikh Abdul Amir Qiblan has called upon Muslims living in foreign countries to shun extremism and be good examples of upright behavior. Qiblan made his remark during a meeting with the Mufti of Australia Sheikh Tajuddin Al-Hilaly who briefed him on the situation of Muslims in that country. He said Muslim unity is the source of their strength, while disunity could only mean weakness for them. The two men discussed various matters relating to the Muslim community in Australia. END |
