First ever husayni mourning procession scheduled in Greece

PIRAEUS, Greece: Azadari-e-Syed-e-Shohada, or the mourning for the Chief of Martyrs Hazrat Imam Hussain (as), started in Greece in 1978.

For the first time Greek Government permitted for a mourning procession in the city of Athens.

Program for Muharram 1425 Hijri February 21 to March 01, 2004:

The following program has been arranged to commemorate the martyrdom of the benefactor of mankind, Imam Hussein (as.) and his seventy two rightly guided followers at Azakhana-e-Gulzarezainab (Regd.) Dimitras – 1, 18540 Piraeus.

Greece.

Majlis start at 6:00 PM Sharp with recitation of holy Quran by Syed Muqarrab Hussain Shah, while Salaam is presented by Moyassar Abbas Toor. Hujjatul Islam Allama Akhtar Haidery (Belgium) addresses at 8:30 PM. The program ends at 9:30 PM with Matam Dari.

On 6th Muharram Jhoola (cradle) Shahzada Ali Asgher (A.S) will be taken out, on 7th Muharram Shahadat Shahzada Qasim (A.S) will be described, on 8th Muharram Alam Hazrat-e-Ghazi Abbas Alamdar (A.S) will be taken out while on 9th Muharram Taboot Shahzada Ali Akbar will be brought out. Amaal-e-Shab-e-Ashura will also be performed.

Ashura Program on Sunday- (February 29, 2004) will start with Majlis at 5:00 am, Adhan-e-Hazrat Ali Akbar (as) and Matam Dari. Aamal of the Day of Ashura will be held at 2:00 pm after Zuhrain prayers followed by Faqa Shikni.

Majlis Sham-e-Ghariban will be held right after Maghribain prayer. The Azakhana will remain open all night on Shab-e-Ashura.

Mourning Procession will be led from Dimitras street on Monday, March 01, 2004 at 3:00 AM. It will end at Plateon Street-10 followed by prayers and Niaz.
