Kuwaiti lawmaker suggests govt for official holiday on Ashoura By: Salem al-Baqeri KUWAIT CITY: A Kuwaiti member of parliament Saleh Ashour has sent a parliamentary question to the Prime Minister regarding holiday on 10th Muharram-ul-Haram. He stated that a suggestion was presented in the ninth legislative season that the tenth day of Muharram – Ashoura – should be considered every year as an official vacation to all of the headquarters and the official and governmental enterprises. It was accepted unanimously by the financial and economic committee in its session on 11/3/2003. The National Assembly in its session held on 31/3/2003 agreed on the mentioned suggestion and decided its transfer to the government, the deputy said. Saleh Ashour further said that now the question is that what is the government’s opinion about this suggestion which was accepted by the committee and agreed on by the National Assembly and then was referred to the government for necessary decision.
