Procession of Husseini Torch marches between two holy shrines By: Ismail Zabeeh HOLY CITY OF KARBALA, Iraq: Mawkab Al-Mash`al Al-Husseini, or the Procession of Husseini Torch, was taken out in this holy city to circumambulate between Harmayn Sharifayn, or the holy shrines of Abi Abdellahil Hussein (p) and his brother Abil Fazlel Abbas (p).
Several thousand mourners, men and women, young and old, attended the procession of torch that is a part of Husseini Sha’a’er, or signs. This torch keeps the meaning of help for oppressed and reminds everyone of the event of Karbala that occurred in 61 A.H. in which Imam Hussein was representative of Haq, or the truth, against the representative of evil, oppression and despotism Yazid bin Muaviyah (c).
Everyone tries to achieve the great blessing by carrying this torch. The mourning participants continue chanting slogans of victory of blood over sword. END |
