Kabul procession bleeds to pay homage to Karbala martyrs

By: Rafiullah

KABUL, Afghanistan: To pay homage to the great sacrifice rendered by the Master of Martyrs Hazrat Imam Husayn (as) along with his 72 faithful comrades some 1400 years ago in the burning desert of Karbala for the sake of Islam, commemorative mourning programs reach on climax in Afghanistan.

Majalis-e-aza are held in mosques, husaynyaat and imambargahs of all cities and towns of the country attended by throngs of mourners.

Addressing hundreds of mourners at Husayni-e-Umi Mosque in the Fatimiya area of Afghan capital city of Kabul, the speakers said that Hazrat Imam Husayn (as), grandson of the Prophet of Islam Hazrat Muhammad (saw) departed Medinah to unveil the real face of Yazidiyat to the world. He sacrificed his everything in the way of Allah but did not bend his head in front of falsehood, oppression, sinfulness and impiety.

Later, the mourners performed matam-zani thus offered their condolences to the Prophet (saw) and his holiest family (as) over the incident that causes every eye to shed rivers of tears.

Majalis are also held at Takiakhana Mosque near the center of Kabul.

Marking the occasion, a mourning procession was taken out in the capital Kabul on Friday. Zanjir-zani (back pounding with razor blades) was performed to pay homage to the martyrs of Karbala.
