Muslims, Christians commemorating tragedy of Karbala in Lebanon By: Karim Tellawi BEIRUT, Lebanon: Azaa al-Hussaini, or the Hussaini mourning, continued in Lebanon like other parts of the world to pay homage to the martyrs of Karbala. Majalis are being held at different Mosques and Hussainiaat in the country attended by hosts of mourners wearing black dresses. Mourning processions are also being taken out. Addressing the majalis, the speakers highlight the great objective of Imam Hussein (A.S.) keeping in view, which he along with his 72 companions and family members laid his life in the burning plain of Karbala. They quote a number of sayings of Prophet of Islam Muhammad Mustafa (S.A.W.) about his beloved grandson Imam Hussain bin Ali (A.S.) to show the lofty status the Imam possessed. Wailings, groans, lamentations and tears are heard and seen when Masa’ib of Imam Hussain (A.S.) and his near and dear ones are described. Deputy chief of Shiit Supreme Council Shaykh Abdel Amir Qiblan addresses majalis Al-Azaa at Hussainia Al-Imam Al-Hussain (A.S.) in Burj Al-Barajinah. Majalis are also held at Al-Imamayn Al-Hasanayn Mosque with throngs of mourners’ attendance. Vice President for Hezbollah Sheikh Naseen Qassem addresses majalis at Sayyedah Kholah Site in Balabak. On 5th day of Muharram, Christians also attended a majlis Al-Azaa held at Imam Ali Bin Abi Taleb (A.S.) mosque in Alboshria dam. Among the attendees were assistant general patriarchate to the Catholics Sirian Antoine Biloni and the Secretary General patriarchate of the Catholics Armenians the father George Asadoryan. Meanwhile, a grand exhibition is on display in the city of Nabtiyah marking the month of Moharram. The exhibition has two sections: in one section there include art pieces inscribed with the events of Ashoura and the tragedy of At-teff. While the second section consists of scenic work of this tragic incident and contains maquettes and various sound and light effects that highlight the incident. END |
