Anti-barrier protest held; UN says Israel must yield land

ABU DIS: Thousands of Palestinian and Israeli demonstrators gathered Saturday next to the 8-meter-tall wall, part of the barrier Israel is building to separate the outskirts of Jerusalem from the West Bank in the village of Abu Dis.

The protestors, holding banners and Palestinian flags, rallied against the controversial security barrier.

Friday, UN Secretary General Kofi Annan said Israel would have to return land to the Palestinians in order to achieve peace, and that pulling out of the Gaza Strip would not be enough.
