Flocks stream into Karbala for Fatimiyah commemoration

HOLY CITY OF KARBALA, Iraq: In commemoration of the martyrdom anniversary of Mistress of the Women of the World Sayyidah Fatimah Az-Zahra, peace be on her, on 13 Jamady Al-Awal, throngs of followers of Ahlul Beit, peace be on them, gathered in the holy city of Karbala, Iraq – home to the holy shrines of Al-Imam Al-Hussein ben Ali ben Abi Taleb, peace be on them, and Hazret Abbas ben Ali ben Abi Taleb, peace be on them.

Marking the occasion, two-day grand Majalis Al-Azaa were organized at the two holy mausoleums attended by flocks of mourners who by performing azadary (mourning rituals) extended their deep condolences to Al-Imam Al-Hussein and Hazret Abol Fazl Al-Abbas, peace be on them.

Black banners inscribed with mourning and condolence statements as well as words of holy Prophet Muhammad, peace be on him & his pure progeny, about his beloved daughter Fatimah Az-Zahra, peace be on her, were hanged at the shrines.

Majalis were also held at the office of Ayatullah Sayyid Taqy Al-Modarresy in the holy city. Sayyid Ebrahim Al-Bashir addressed the three-day majlis and threw light in detail on different aspects of life of Sayyidah Az-Zahra As-Saddika At-Taherah, peace be upon her.
