Olwiyah blasts at Iran-Lebanon, demands Libya’s trial in ICJ By: Karim Tellawi BEIRUT, Lebanon: Lebanon’s Olwiyatul Imam Mussa As-Sadr organization has severely criticized Iran, Lebanon and Lebanese Hizbollah militia for not working on the issue of disappearance of Ayatullah As-Sadr. As-Sadr was chairman of Lebanese Muslim Shiite Supreme Council. He was disappeared or kidnapped and some say was killed in August 1978 by Libya during his trip to Tripoli along with his two companions named Ash-Sheikh Muhammad Yaqoub and Abbas Badreddin. In a statement, Olwiyatul Imam Mussa As-Sadr organization said the three sides – Iran, Lebanon and Hizbollah – did nothing save statements and writing letters which will not work in resolution of this issue. The organization called for trial of Libyan government in the International Court of Justice (ICJ) over the crime of kidnapping Ayatullah Mussa As-Sadr. Earlier this month, Libya, which remains at odds with Lebanon over the disappearance of As-Sadr more than 25 years ago, did not send any delegates to the OPEC meeting at a seafront hotel in downtown Beirut. Libya boycotted the meeting because of dispute with Lebanon over the disappearance of Ayatullah Mussa Sadr. Tripoli shut down its embassy in Beirut in response to accusations by Lebanese religious and political officials that Libyan leader Moamer Kadhafi helped cover up Sadr's disappearance. END |
