Hindu-Muslim rally protests US occupation of Iraq By: Nizam Hussain
NEW DELHI, India: Hindus and Muslims jointly staged a massive rally in the Indian capital city of New Delhi on Sunday to protest US atrocities and occupation of Iraq. The rally, addressed by various Muslim and Hindu religious leaders from different organizations, severely condemned American policies and demanded US-led coalition forces’ immediate withdrawal from the soil of Iraq. The organizer of the demonstration, Maulana Kalbe Jawwad, who is also convener of the United Council for Ulema said the US plan was to initiate a fight between Shiite and Sunnis which has failed miserably and, out of sheer disgust, their forces have resorted to committing atrocities on innocent people, including women and children. He noted that peace-loving people in the world are shocked by the US attacks on the holy shrines of Hazrat Ali (Peace be on him) and Imam Hussein (Peace be on him) and the attack on Mosques. the protestors were holding anti-US placards as well as symbolic coffins of US President George W. Bush and British Prime Minister Tony Blair. END |
