Senior Iranian Ayatullah prohibits smoking By: Sheikh Muhammad Khurasani TEHRAN, Iran: Iran’s senior cleric Ayatullah Makarem Shirazi has said smoking is taboo and smokers should quit smoking. He was responding to a letter addressed by health deputy of Shiraz Medical School. Ayatullah Shirazi said that any kind of production, bargain and smoking tobacco is a “confirmed” divine taboo. “Taking the damages into account, smoking is "forbidden" and the smokers should abstain from smoking,” he said. His response coincides with the World No Tobacco Day. END |
