Islamic countries plan to restructure OIC By: Abdullah ISLAMABAD/KUALA LUMPUR: Islamic States have decided to constitute a Commission of Eminent Persons for the restructuring of 57-member Organization of Islamic Conference (OIC). Besides a commission, an OIC think tank will also be established to respond effectively to the ideological and intellectual challenges of the 21st century. This was announced by Pakistani and Malaysian officials at a press conference after the conclusion of two day international seminar on “OIC: Challenges and Response-Enlightened Moderation.” The seminar, attended by 39 independent scholars from 28 member states, brought a comprehensive and democratic debate and discussion, which generated many constructive ideas and proposals.
