Saudi Arabia bans sale of Islamic anthems

RIYADH, Saudi Arabia: The government of Saudi Arabia on Monday has banned sales and distribution of recordings of Islamic hymns and anthems until further notice.

“The ministry of culture and information was instructed last week to strictly impose the ban on all Islamic anthems,” according to official sources.

They said the ban comprises recordings of lectures and discussions that start with Islamic hymns.

Recording companies are expected to complain about the decision, which will most likely result in heavy financial losses.
