Hena for Prince Qassem (p) commemorated in Iraq By: Ismail Zabeeh HOLY CITY OF KARBALA, Iraq: Large number of massive Hosayni processions took to the streets of the holy city of Karbala on the 8th night of Muharram to commemorate the martyrdom of Prince Qassem, the beloved son of Al-Imam Al-Hassan bin Ali Ibn-e-Abi Talib (peace be on them), like other parts of the globe.
Muharram 7 is attributed with 13-year-old one-night bridegroom Prince Qassem bin Al-Hassan (peace be on them) as followers of Ahlul Bayt (peace be on them) observe his wedding rituals by holding Hena processions throughout the world. This hosayni Sha’a’er practice was observed freely this year for the first time in more than three decades as hosayni mourning was banned in Saddam regime. Carrying rose water, scents and trays of candles, hena and sweets, the mourners including men, women and children headed to the holy Shrine of the Chief of Martyrs Al-Imam Al-Hosayn bin Ali Ibn-e-Abi Talib (peace be on them), the paternal uncle of prince Qassem (peace be on him). The mourners extended their condolences on the martyrdom of Prince Qassem bin Al-Hassan (peace be on them) wedded with Sayyedah Fatimah Al-Kubra (peace be on her), the daughter of Al-Imam Al-Hosayn (peace be on him). According to reports, after Prince Qassem (peace be on him) kissed martyrdom on Ashura - the tenth day of Muharram - his holy body was trampled by Yezidi forces. END |
