Imam Sajjad (p)’s Martyrdom Day marked in Iraq By: Ismail Zabeeh HOLY CITY OF KARBALA, Iraq: Martyrdom Anniversary of Al-Imam Ali bin Al-Hussein (peace be on him) was marked in Iraq on Muharram 25.
In the holy city of Karbala, home to the holy shrines of Al-Imam Al-Hussein (peace be on him) and his brother Hazrat Abul Fazl Al-Abbas (peace be on him), grand mourning processions marched on the streets heading towards the two holy shrines. The processions culminated at the shrines where throngs of mourners reciting elegies and dirges marking the occasion offered their heartfelt condolences to the chief of Martyrs Al-Imam Al-Hussein (peace be on him) and Standard-bearer of Husseini Army Hazrat Al-Abbas (peace be on him).
Replica of coffin of Al-Imam Ali bin Al-Hussein Zein-ul-Abidein (peace be on him), who by his great addresses in kufa and Syria and courts of Yazid and Ibn-e-Zyad crushed the Yazidiyat, was also taken out in the processions.
Special meals were prepared to be served to the mourners from the table of Al-Imam Al-Hussein (peace be on him) and other progeny of holy Prophet (peace be on him & his pure offspring). Meanwhile, majalis azaiyah were held organized by different organizations throughout the country. END |
