First-ever Luton Husseini procession banned By: Nabil Raza LUTON: The government has banned on Friday a first-ever Husseini mourning procession in Luton, 25 miles (40 km) north of London, police said. Citing security concerns, Bedfordshire police said they had asked Home Secretary David Blunkett to stop the event, scheduled for Sunday March 21 in Luton at 1:00pm. The mourning procession was to be taken out to commemorate the martyrdom anniversary of Imam Hussein (peace be upon him)’s son Imam Zain-ul-Abideen (peace be upon him). Blunkett ordered the procession to be canceled under a public order law. END |
