Husseini commemorative programs held across Europe By: Syed Sajjad Abdi Prepared by: Raza Ali BRUSSELS, Belgium: Mourning programs to commemorate the supreme and unparallel sacrifice rendered by Imam Hussein bin Ali bin Abi Talib (pbht) some 1400 years ago on the burning desert of Karbala for safety of Islam were held across Europe.
Moulana Mukhtar Abbas addressed Muharram Majalis in Brussels imambargah, Belgium. Daily majalis were followed by matam and niyaz. On Muharram 8, thousands belonging to Africa, Iran, Pakistan, Iraq, India and Morocco attended a mourning procession taken out from imambargah Mehfil-e-Ali (pbuh) Den hag, Holland. The procession after marching through the city culminated at the same imambargah. Majalis were also held at Mefil-e-Ali Den hag and also in Amsterdam. A mourning Zuljinah procession was brought out on Muharram 11 in Feshta, Germany. Majalis-e-aza were organized in different cities of Germany including Munster, Hamburg, Berlin and Frankfurt addressed by different speakers. Paris (France), Oslo (Norway), Sweden, Lisbon (Portugal), Athens (Greece), Barcelona (Spain), Brachia and Karpi (Italy) also witnessed husseini commemorative programs. Meanwhile, a majlis-e-aza, which is held annually on the first Sunday after Ashoura and called Europe’s main majlis, was organized in Brussels, Belgium. Different speakers from across Europe addressed and threw light on the tragic event of Karbala. END |
