Al-Mehri asks Kuwait to show 'Passion of the Christ' By: Sultan Ahmed KUWAIT CITY: A Kuwaiti Shiite cleric Muhammad Baqer Al-Mehri urged the government to let screenings of Mel Gibson's controversial film “The Passion of the Christ” because it “reveals crimes committed by Jews against Christ.” “We have called on the information minister to show this movie,” Al-Mehri told The Associated Press. He heads the congregation of Shiite clerics in Kuwait. Jewish organizations, however, have denounced the film, which depicts the last hours Jesus' life, as anti-Semitic and expressed fears that it would cause attacks on Jews. END |
