Ninth Muharram majalis, processions held in Pak

KARACHI, Pakistan: Azadari is being performed across Pakistan with hundreds of thousands of mourners commemorating the martyrdom of Imam-e-Alee Maqam Imam Hussain (AS) and his companions.

In the port city of Karachi, Majalis and Matamdari were held at all Imambargahs and Azakhanas including Al-Mohsin, Khurasan Garden, Imambargah e Babul ILM, Aza Khana-e-Zahra (AS), Dar-e-Batool and Markazi Imambargah Khara Dar with renowned scholars and orators addressing.

Grand majalis-e-aza were held and massive mourning processions were taken out in Islamabad, Karachi, Lahore, Multan, Hyderabad, Peshawar, D. I. Khan, D. G. Khan and many other cities on 9th Muharram-ul-Haram attended by flocks of mourners.

During procession, mourners performed zanjir-zani (beating backs with razor blades) causing blood to flow paying rich homage to the great sacrifices of Karabala Martyrs. They walked on burning coals.

Security is beefed up in the country.
