Imam Hassan (p)’s martyrdom observed in Saudi Arabia By: Abdulali AL-QATEEF, Saudi Arabia: Martyrdom Anniversary of Al-Imam Al-Hasan bin Ali bin Abi Taleb (a.s.), grandson of holy Prophet Muhammad (s.a.), was observed in eastern parts of Saudi Arabia on Safar 7. Marking the occasion, Majales and Mawakeb Al-Azaiyah, or the mourning sittings and processions, were held in mosques and husseiniyat attended by large crowds. Black banners and posters, inscribed with condolence statements, were placed in streets and black standards fluttered on buildings. According to some traditions, Safar 7 is the day when Al-Imam Hassan Al-Mojtaba (a.s.), son of Commander of Faithful Al-Imam Ali (a.s.) and Mistress of Women of Heaven Sayyedah Fatemah Az-Zahraa (a.s.), was martyred. Speakers while addressing the majales al-azaiyah described in detail different aspects of the pious life of Chief of Youths of Heaven Al-Imam Hassan Al-Mujtaba (a.s.) who was not even allowed by the Ummah of his grandfather Holy Prophet Muhammad (s.a) to be buried beside him as they showered arrows on his holy coffin when it was led to the holy Shrine of holy Prophet (s.a.) in Medina. Al-Imam Al-Hassan (a.s.) was buried in the cemetery of Al-Baqee besides his mother Sayyedah Fatemah Az-Zahraa (a.s.). Saudi government, in 1926, bulldozed the holy shrines and still these holy shrines are demolished. Quoting sayings of holy Prophet (s.a.) about his grandson Al-Imam Al-Hassan (a.s.), the speakers highlighted the great status that Sibtur Rasoul (a.s.) enjoyed in the sight of Chief of Prophets (s.a.).
