Ashoora marking in Bahrain with big husseini processions By: Ali Al-Qadumi MANAMA, Bahrain: Like other global parts, Ashoora was observed with due reverence across Bahrain in commemoration of the supreme sacrifice of Al-Imam Al-Hussein (p) that was for the safety and protection of religion and human dignity.
Tens of thousands of Bahraini mourners took to streets during husseini mourning processions following Majalis Al-Husseini at mosques, husseiniyaat and maatam in all parts of the country on Ashoora night and then on Ashoora Day. The day began with prayer call of Ali Al-Akber (p), the 18-year-old young son of the Master of Martyrs Al-Imam Al-Hussein (p) followed by special A`maal of the Day. Later Majalis were held and processions were taken out in which hundreds of mourners shed their blood by performing ‘Tatbeer’ (hitting head with swords) marking the martyrdom of holy Prophet Muhammad (p)’s grandson. According to reports, up to 70,000 mourners attended the capital Manama’s husseini procession on Ashoora. Meanwhile, the husseini commemorative programs continue in the country till Raby-ol-ola 8.
