Bahrain: Big mourning programs pay homage to Amir ol Mo’mineen

MANAMA, Bahrain: Martyrdom Anniversary of Amir ol Mo’mineen, or the Master of the Believers, Al-Imam Ali b. Abi Taleb (AS) was commemorated throughout Bahrain with religious veneration and devotion.

Marking the occasion, three-day (19-21 Ramadan) grand mourning sittings and processions were held in all mosques, husseiniyaat and maatam of the country including Maatam bin Salum Manama, Husseiniyah Al-Haaj Ahmed bin Khamis, Masjid Fatimah-tuz-Zahra (SA) Hamd, Masjid Al-Momin, Maatam Al-Imam Al-Baqer (AS) Bouri, Maatam Ad-Darah, Maatam Al-Ajam Al-Kabir, Husseiniyah bin Zubr, Maatam As-Samamik Manama, Husseiniyah Al-Qassab Manama, Maatam Al-Haaj Ali Al-Mulla Sanad, Maatam Raas Ar-Rumman, Maatam bin Zubr, Maatam Al-Imam Ali (AS), Maatam Ithni Ashariyah, Maatam Medina Eisa, Maatam As-Sanabas and Maatam Ash-Shaheed attended by thousands of mourners wearing black mourning dresses.

Speakers in their addresses on the occasion brought to light the pious life of Al-Imam Ali (AS), his high status in the sight of Allah and Seal of Prophets, Prophet Muhammad b. Abdollah (SW), and also the tragedy of his martyrdom.

Later, processions were taken out from different mosques, husseiniyaat and maatam. Renowned elegy-chanters attended and recited dirges paying rich homage in the court of Abou Al-A’immah, or the father of infallible Imams from the progeny of holy Prophet (SW), Al-Imam Ali (AS). The mourners while beating their chests in mourning offered profound condolences to Chief of Messengers Prophet Muhammad (SW) on the shocking occasion.

Special arrangements were made for Iftar and Sahor meals during these days.
