UN urges to portray Israeli atrocities By: Mohamed Ali NEW YORK: A committee of the United Nations has called for a wider coverage and revelation of the legion of Israeli violations and atrocities being committed in the occupied Palestinian territories on daily basis in contravention of international law and human rights. The special committee, charged with investigating Israel's anti-Palestinian practices, said in its report that international media are duty-bound to portray what suffering the separation wall is bringing to the Palestinian people and the big changes in the Palestinian societal fabric, and the fact that it has created a large open prison for the Palestinians. The committee said it was shocked to hear about the constant Israeli violations, killings, maiming, and destruction, and their effect on Palestinian children, many of whom have now given up attempts to go to school or university. The reason for this aversion to education is to do with the rampant unemployment and despondency. END |
