Electric train for Prophet (p)'s Shrine visitors in Holy Medina By: Abdulali RIYADH, Saudi Arabia: Within few minutes, the visitors of the holy Shrine of Prophet Muhammad bin Abdellah (p) in the holy city of Medina, Saudi Arabia, would be able to move easily to the shrine and among the regions of the holy sanctuary, Qobaa and Shohadaa. This would become reality after the completion of electric train project in year 2007. The project, being carried out by one of the Saudi companies, is aimed at lessening the jam from the Prophet (p)'s Mosque region and the sacred places. According to the project general manager engineer Ayman Abd Al-Mo'een Hassun the train will be 7 metres high, move over an iron bridge hanged on concrete pillars with the length of 10 kilometres, start from Qobaa to Shohadaa passing through the sanctuary, commercial and residential centers. The train will accommodate 20 thousand passengers in one hour and about 30 million passengers in one year. Engineer Hassun described the project as one of the most prominent civilized displays in the Middle East which he calls a great service for the Prophet (p)'s Mosque visitors as it would contribute in easing the jam and make them move between the sanctuary and Qobaa in three minutes only as well as it would open the door for establishment of additional residential units for visitors and pilgrims away from the jam region around the sanctuary. Hassun pointed out that escalators would be available at every station. There will be four main stations of the worthiest hanging train: first from Qobaa Mosque, second from the Prophet (p)’s Sanctuary near Al-Baqi' cemetery – which houses the bulldozed holy graves of holy Prophet’s progeny which includes his daughter Sayyedah Fatimah Az-Zahraa (p), Al-Imam Al-Hasan (p), Al-Imam Zain Al-Abidin (p), Al-Imam Baqer (p), Al-Imam Jafar As-Sadeq (p), besides Prophet’s wives (R) and companions (R)-, third at commercial and residential centers and fourth in Ohad martyrs yard in addition to a number of additional tying stations.
