Iran: Imam Ali (s) martyrdom, Shab-e-Qadr commemorated By: Sheikh Muhammad Khurasani
HOLY CITY OF MASH’HAD, Iran: In commemoration of martyrdom anniversary of Hazret-e-Ali ibn-e-Abi Talib (a.s.), Iranian nation observed mourning holding majales and processions. Main mourning programs were held at the holy shrines of Hazret-e-Imam Ali bin Mousa Ar-Reza (a.s.) and his sister Hazret-e-Fatimeh Masomeh (a.s.) in the holy cities of Mash’had and Qom, Jamkaran Mosque, Shah Abdolazim Mosque and tomb of late founder of Islamic Republic of Iran Ayatullah Seyyed Rohullah Al-Khomeini in Tehran. Mourners wearing black mourning dresses extended their deep condolences to Hazret-e-Imam Ali bin Mousa Ar-Reza (a.s.) and his sister Hazret-e-Fatimeh Masomeh (a.s.) on the martyrdom of their grandfather. President Mohammad Khatami on Thursday night (21st night of Ramazan) addressed the ceremony marking the martyrdom of Hazret-e-Imam Ali (a.s.) in the tomb of Ayatullah Khomeini (late).
He called Imam Ali (a.s.) as the epitome of the justice. He said economic justice is the most tangible type of justice, adding that the first step to respect the human beings is to meet their economic demands while the other aspects of justice should also be taken into consideration. He called on the Iranian nation to take part in the Qods Day rallies on the last Friday of the holy month of Ramazan. Offices of Ayaat in the holy cities of Mash’had and Qom as well as other husseinyaat and mosques also arranged mourning gatherings to commemorate the occasion. Iran’s supreme leader on 21 Ramazan led Friday prayer at the Tehran University campus. He insisted that his country was not seeking nuclear weapons because it had 'devoted youth and a nation united' to rely on instead, saying US accusations were aimed at preventing Iran's technological progress. The mourning programs had begun on the eve of 19 Ramazan and terminated on 21 Ramazan. During these mourning programs, Sahour and Iftar meals and banquets were arranged at the holy shrines, husseiniyaat and mosques. Amaal of Shab-e0Qadr, or the Night of Qadr, were also held at shrines, mosques, husseiniyaat and religious places across the country on 19th, 21st and 23rd night of Ramazan. END |
