Govt delegation meets Marajay, reveals projects for Najaf

HOLY CITY OF NAJAF, Iraq: A government delegation on Wednesday October 27 held meetings with Al-Marajay Ad-Diniyah in the holy city of Najaf and unveiled two significant projects for the City of Imam Ali (p) aimed at facilitating millions of visitors.

The delegation headed by deputy Prime Minister of Iraq Barham Salih comprised of Health Minister Ala Alwan, Minister for National Peace Affairs Qassem Dawod and Prime Minister’s adviser for reconstruction affairs Bayan Jabar.

Soon after its arrival in Holy Najaf, the delegation headed to the office of Ayatullah Sayyed Ali Husseini As-Sistani accompanied by Holy Najaf Governor Adnan Az-Zurfi and Holy Najaf Police Chief Ghaleb Al-Jazayeri.

Talking to newsmen after meeting with Ayatullah Sistani, Barham Salih told that the delegation conferred with the Ayatullah the issue of peace and security, upcoming election and the government’s efforts to curb terrorists and terrorism by holding free and fair election on time. He said: “We also told him government’s plans regarding reconstruction of Holy Najaf.”

Later, the delegation held meetings with other Marajay i.e. Ayatullah Sayyed Muhammad Said Al-Hakim and Ayatullah Sheikh Bashir An-Najafi on the same topics.

During these meetings, need of coordination between Al-Marajay Ad-Diniyah and the government regarding national and religious matters was urged.

Following meetings with Al-Marajay Ad-Diniyah, Deputy Premier Barham Salih addressed a news conference in the Holy Najaf.

He unveiled to the journalists two significant projects for Holy Najaf namely main designing of the holy City which also consists of expansion of Haydari Shrine Compound, and said that this subject is very important and we have invited different companies to participate so that the options may be put before Najaf sons, Marajay and the responsible institutions for approval of suitable designing.

The second project includes the establishment of an international airport “Imam Ali International Airport”. Salih said that within few next weeks the declaration of entrustment to one of companies specialized in the construction of international airport between Holy Najaf and Holy Karbala in the region of Khan An-Nisf (Al-Haydariyah). This project will serve millions of devotees across the world for visit of the holy sanctuaries.
