Holy Najaf Maraje conclave advises how to treat violence By: Ismail Zabeeh HOLY CITY OF NAJAF, Iraq: Amid escalating violence in Iraq, Marjaiyah Ad-Diniyah (Religious Authority) held a meeting in Holy Najaf to discuss elections calling the interim government to treat deteriorating security situation with wisdom. The meeting was attended by Holy Najaf’s four Grand Maraje, namely Ayatullah Sayyed Muhammad Said Al-Hakim, Ayatullah Sayyed Ali As-Sistani, Ayatullah Hafiz Bashir An-Najafi, and Ayatullah Ishaq Fayaz with the participation of the Supreme Council for Islamic Revolution chairman Sayyed Abdul Aziz Al-Hakim. Ayatullah Sistani urged for holding elections in time, expansion of public participation and treatment of demerits of laws of elections and parties. He demanded interim Iraqi government to stop the bloodshed, treat the matters softly and with sagacity without resorting to the violence, take measures for release of detainees who were not proved guilty, immediate rehabilitation and construction of the cities that were harmed because of acts of violence and fighting, and compensate the victims financially.
