Annual American Muslim parade held in New York

NEW YORK, United States: Thousands of Muslims residing in the United States took part on Sunday in the annual American Muslim parade in New York.

Muslims - both Americans and migrants - held a three-kilometer peaceful rally on Madison Avenue in the 19th American Muslim parade.

New York Police Department (NYPD) police officers grouped in the American Muslim Law Enforcement Officer of New York and Muhammad Ali Chowdry, mayor of Benaros Township, New Jersey were among the participants.

The parade is held before the fasting month of Ramadan with participants from Muslim communities in New York City and the neighboring regions.

Organizer Shamsi Ali said: “The parade aims to among other things provide a better understanding of Islam to Americans through a cultural approach.” He added that more and more Muslims in the US were gaining better positions, such as becoming mayor in several states, as well as being successful businesspeople.

A variety of activities such as arts and cultural performances as well as selling clothes and food were also held by the organizers.
