Libya ready to render cooperation in Ayatullah Mussa case By: Sultan Ahmed ABU DHABI: Tripoli is ready to cooperate in clarifying the fate of the kidnapped Lebanese cleric Ayatullah Mussa As-Sadr, disappeared some 26 years ago during a trip to Libya. This was announced in a communiqué issued by Libya's embassy in Abu Dhabi on Wednesday. It further stressed: “Tripoli would not cease cooperation and efforts in that respect till full clarification of the Lebanese leader's fate.” The communiqué in question, copies of which were made available to news dispatches representative offices in Abu Dhabi, is issued originally by Libya's Ministry of Foreign Affairs. “The disappearance of Imam Mossa Sadr resulted in loss of one of the strong and prominent leaders of the Islamic resistance in its struggle against the Zionist oppressors,” it added. The statement said: “Imam Mussa Sadr's disappearance is related to Libya, particularly because he was Tripoli's guest prior to being disappeared… His disappearance is to be surveyed in the context of a chain of events, including kidnapping, assassinations and terrorist attacks prevailing at the time in Lebanon, and more generally speaking in eastern Arabic countries' political and religious circles.” “Libya will not permit the involved parties in eastern Arabic countries to accuse it of the crimes they have committed in the context of the political settlements at the time in order to clear their own files of the shame of having a hand in this horrendous crime.” END |
