Memorial programs for Ayat Shirazi held in Karbala

HOLY CITY OF KARBALA, Iraq: A memorial gathering and an exhibition were held in the holy city of Karbala, Iraq, to mark the twenty-fourth death anniversary of Islamic thinker martyr Ayatullah As-Sayyed Hasan Ash-Shirazi and commemorating Ulema and Martyrs.

Holy Karbala is home to the holy shrines of Al-Imam Al-Hussein bin Ali (p) and Al-Abbas bin Ali (p).

Ar-Rasul Al-Azam Foundation organized the exhibition with the cooperation of Karbala Library. A large number of books written and compiled by founder of Hawzah Ilmiya Zeinabiya in Syria Ayatullah Hasan Ash-Shrazi (late) and Grand Ayatullah Sayyed Muhammad Shirazi (late), scores of their portraits, and CDs and cassettes on their life were kept in the exhibition.

The exhibition absorbed large number of Mo’mineen and visitors of the holy city of Karbala.

The commemorative gathering, held in late Jamadi-us-Sani at the site that lays between Al-Haramayn Ash-Sharifayn – two holy mausoleums of Al-Imam Al-Hussein (p) and Al-Abbas (p) - , was attended by a large number of people from all walks of life. They included religious scholars, intellectuals, academics, thinkers and tribal leaders.

Prayer Caller of Husseini Shrine Al-Haj Mostapha As-Sarraf opened the program with recitation of holy Quran followed by different speakers including Sayyed Ja’far Al-Qazwini, Sayed Muhammad Ali Ash-Shirazi, Sheikh Fazel Al-Haideri and Sayed Abbas Al-Modarresi who lauded services of late Ayatullah Hassan Ash-Shirazi and threw light on the status of a scholar in the sight of Allah. Poets Sheikh Ali Hassan Shawelia and Hasan Al-Fattal recited eulogies to mark the occasion.

Later, the participants stood up to honor the late Ayatullah and recited Surah Al-Fatihah for his soul.
