Madain martyrs burial; Calls to fish out remaining corpses from Tigris

By: Ismail Zabeeh

HOLY CITY OF NAJAF, Iraq: Volunteers in Iraq, who have stood against threats of terrorists that anyone who would go near River Tigris to take dead bodies out from it will face death as well, have called on Al-Marja’iyah and the government to render every help to fish out remaining corpses from the river.

According to Supreme Council for Islamic Revolution in Iraq, headed by Sayyed Abdul Aziz Al-Hakim, locals and witnesses confirmed that several other dead bodies of the Madain hostages are still in Tigris River but these could not be taken out because of lack of divers.

Meanwhile, tens of thousands of aggrieved mourners attended funerals of some of Madain hostages including children in the holy city of Najaf, home to the holy shrine of Master of Believers Al-Imam Ali bin Abi Talib (p).

Signs of severe torture were seen on them as some dead bodies were badly mutilated while some others were headless.

Eyewitnesses from the oppressed Madain city said there are still 22 dead bodies in Kut hospital waiting for burial.

Representatives of Al-Marja’iyaat Ad-Diniyah and officials including Holy Najaf Governor Alhaj As’ad Albo Kalal participated in the funeral.

The pained participants were demanding from Al-Marjaiyah Ad-Diniyah (top religious authority) to give them green light for revenge.

Al-Marjay Al-Aala Ayatullah Sayyed Ali As-Sistani has urged all Iraqis to remain calm so that enemies’ conspiracies of creating rift among them could be thwarted.

Muslim Scholars Association, in a statement, said perpetrators of these crimes do not desire good of Iraq.

Meanwhile, identification of Madain hostages is going on as their relatives gather in As-Sawayrah Police Station to identify their loved ones through pictures that were taken after nearly 60 hostages were fished out of Tigris.

Only 17 dead bodies were buried in holy Najaf after they were brought in a truck from the town of Suwayrah for burial here after their identification.
