AL-MANAMA, Bahrain: Big mourning gatherings marking the occasion of Arbaeen Al-Husseini, or the fortieth day after the martyrdom of Sebt An-Nabi Al-Akram (p) Al-Imam Al-Hussein (p) were witnessed across Bahrain.

Thousands attended these mourning gatherings – majales wa mawakeb al-azaiyah (mourning sittings and processions) – to pay rich homage to martyrs of Karbala and prisoners of Syria from the progeny of holy Prophet (p) namely Al-Imam Ali bin Al-Hussein Zayn-ol Abidin (p), Sayyedah Zaynab bent-i-Ali (p) and other chaste ladies of the holy family.

Speakers while addressing these ceremonies highlighted objective of Al-Imam Al-Hussein (p)’s stand, significance of Arbaeen, return of convoy of Holy Prophet (p)’s progeny on Arbaeen to Karbala from Syria where they were imprisoned at the hands of Yazid after slaughter of Chief of Martyrs and Master of Youths of Paradise Al-Imam Al-Hussein (p) in the scorching plain of Karbala.

Black mourning-dressed Husseiny mourners were chanting elegies and beating their chests and heads in deep grief over the sufferings of holy Prophet (p)’s progeny extending condolence to the Imam of Era Al-Imam Al-Montazar (the Awaited) Al-Mahdi (p).
