HOLY CITY OF QOM, Iran: Iranian Security Authorities on Tuesday night baton charged and arrested family members – men and women - of late Grand Marjay Sayyed Muhammad Al-Hosayni Ash-Shirazi from the holy shrine of Sayyedah Fatemeh Al-Masoumeh (a.s.) in the holy city of Qom and later released them on Wednesday after drawing severe condemnation.

According to details, on Rajab 3 night which marks the martyrdom anniversary of Al-Imam Al-Hadi (a.s.), some 30 ladies from the family of Aal-e-Shirazi and others gathered at the holy mausoleum of Sayyedah Fatemeh Al-Masoumeh (a.s.) in the holy city of Qom to extend their condolence to her marking the occasion.

Later, these women thronged at the grave of Grand Marjay Sayyed Muhammad Al-Hosayni Ash-Shirazi near the holy grave of Sayyedah Al-Masoumeh (a.s.) and found it trampled by feet. They put a green cloth on the grave, sat there, recited fateha and organized a majles attended by nearly one hundred women.

Soon security men stormed into the ladies portion in the holy shrine, baton charged and arrested them sending a wave of unrest among them.

As this news reached at the house of Ayatullah Sadeq Ash-Shirazi, his son Ayatullah Sayyed Hosain Ash-Shirazi and son-in-law of late Grand Marjay Ash-Shirazi, Sayyed Kazem Al-Fali, went to the holy shrine to settle the issue. They found security men beating women with batons, and they seized their hands from oppression. This led to the arrest of Ayatullah Sayyed Hosain Ash-Shirazi and Sayyed Kazem Al-Fali.

The women arrested included daughters and daughters-in-laws of late Grand Ayatullah Sayyed Muhammad Al-Hosayni Ash-Shirazi, daughters of Ayatullah Sayyed Morteza Ash-Shirazi.
