Over 1,000 Germans converted to Islam over past year

BERLIN, Germany: The German-based Islam-Archive
Central Institute said that for the first time ever, more than 1,000
Germans have converted to Islam over the past 12 months.
Some 1,152 Germans have converted to Islam between May 2004 and May
2005.
Whenever the media attack Islam, more people convert to Islam than in
normal years, the association said adding that more than 60 percent of
those who convert are woman, most of them single and well-educated.
According to statistics released by the institute in May 2005, some
14,352 out of 3.2 million Muslims in Germany are of German-origin.
