US, Saudi, Pak, Lebanon, Iran scholars slam Al-Jazeera

NEW YORK, United States: Various leaders, Ayaat and organizations inside and outside Iraq have condemned Al-Jazeera television for airing remarks against Marja’iyah in Iraq.

In America, Shiia Ulema Council’s Committee for Iraqi Affairs, in a statement, denouncing the Qatar-based television has slammed Qatari government. It urged the Iraqi government to take practical step in this regard i.e. demand from the Qtar government to shut ts embassy if it does not close Al-Jazeera.

Iran’s Mehr News Agency reported that Ayatullah Safi Gulpaygani from the holy city of Qom, Iran, decried Al-Jazeera anti-Marja’iyh comments and said it was Marja’iyah courtesy to whom the whole world came to know role of religious leaders in reforms and stand against aggression.

Saudi ulema also issued a joint protest statement against the TV saying its heinous act has sent a wave of unrest among people of the region. They expressed full solidarity with Marja’iyah in the holy city of Najaf. The names of the ulema are Abbas Al-Anki, SAyyed Ali Nasser As-Salman, SAyyed Ali Taher As-Salman, Sayyed Hashim Muhammad Salman, Sheikh Abdullah Ad-Dandan, Hasan Ahmed Al-Janbi, Ali Malullah, Hussein Al-Atal, Mehdi As-Salih, Muhammad Abdullah Abu As-Saud, Sheikh Hussein Salih Al-Ayesh, Masor Al-Jashi, Sayyed Salih Naseif, Sheikh Mehdi Al-Mosalli, Zohayr Ar-Rawabeh, Fatah Al-Janoubi, Abbas Ali Al-Mahrus, Sheikh Muhammad Al-Moshakri, Sheikh Mohsin, Sheikh Abdullah Al-Khonezi, Sheikh Ali Al-Janbi, Sheikh Faysal Al-Arqan and Sayyed Monir Al-Khobbaz.

Pakistan’s Shiia A’immah Masajed Organization chairman Allamah Hussein Kazemi flayed Al-Jazeera for airing derogatory remarks and voiced solidarity with the Najaf Marja’iyah.

Secretary-General Lebanon’s Bani Hashem organization Allamah Sayyed Muhammad Ali Al-Husseini and other members have condemned the station saying it is working to sow seeds of discord and disunity among Iraqis. The organization demanded boycott of Al-Jazeera.

In a show aired Tuesday night and Wednesday afternoon on the station, a London-based Iraqi writer accused Marja’iyah of conspiring with the Americans against the insurgents.

BAGHDAD, Iraq: Iraqis protested in the capital city of Baghdad, holy Najaf, holy Karbala and many other cities against defamatory comments about Marja’iyah aired on the Qatar-based Al-Jazeera television.
