MANAMA, Bahrain: Bahraini cleric Sheikh Ali Salman has condemned the violent acts that took place on Sunday when the police took a religious leader to the Public Prosecutor's office upon his arrival at Bahrain International Airport.

He made his remarks during his meeting with the Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Islamic Affairs and Chairman of the Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs, Sheikh Abdulla bin Khalid Al Khalifa, with another cleric Shaikh Mohammed Sanad.

Sheikh Salman also stressed that everyone was opposed to such acts, which were alien to Islam.

During the meeting the Deputy Premier called upon the people to respect the law and order and maintain the family spirit in the best interest of the Kingdom.

Affirming the Kingdom's openness and unity between all citizens, including Sunnis and Shias, he also said that "no one should try to create divisions among citizens, for this would result in harming the Kingdom's achievements and progress."
