Maulana Atahar says “we stood for our rights” By: Nizam Hussain LUCKNOW, India: Maulana Mirza Mohammed Atahar, President All India Shia Personal Law Board, has said the AISPLB was formed to safeguard rights of Shias which make up about six crore (60 million) of India’s population. “It was time that we stood for our rights,” says Maulana Atahar. “We have formed a forum of ourselves because the AIMPLB never took interest in our well being.” The newly formed 69-member All India Shia Personal Law Board has the support of renowned good-belief scholars, clerics and the erstwhile royal family of Lucknow - some 2000 descendants of the family claim to have extended their support. “We can be now sure that our rights will be safeguarded,” a family member said.
