Grand hussaini processions held in NY, LA

By: Mohamed Ali

LOS ANGELES, United States: Mourning programs to commemorate the unparallel sacrifices of Chief of Martyrs Abi Al-Ahrar Hazrat Imam Hussain (a.s.), grandson of holy Prophet Hazrat Muhammad (s.w.), presented for defense of Islam and Shariat-i-Muhammadi and protection of high human values, were continued across the United States.

Majalis-e-aza, organized by different organizations and committees, are held at various mosques, Islamic centers, hussainiyaat and imambargahs attended by large number of hussaini mourners.

Speakers in their addresses outline high status of Hazrat Imam Hussain (a.s.) in the light of Quran and Sunnah, objective of his qayam, and details of his martyrdom.

Marking the occasion, grand mourning processions were held in Manhattan, New York and Los Angeles on Sunday 13th of February. Black-dressed people – men, women and children - belonging to Turkey, Iran, India, Pakistan, Afghanistan and African countries joined their American religious brothers in the processions. Standard of Hazrat Abbas (a.s.) known as Alam was also taken out.

The mourners were pounding their chests in grief over the sufferings of the beloved son of Hazrat Fatima Zahra (a.s.) and Hazrat Ali Al-Murtaza (a.s.), Hazrat Imam Hussain (a.s.) while chanting ‘Ya Hussain (a.s.)’.

Pamphlets on why the Imam Hussain (a.s.) gave that matchless sacrifice were also distributed among the bystanders.

"Knowledge is better than wealth because it protects you while you have to guard wealth. it decreases if you keep on spending it but the more you make use of knowledge ,the more it increases . what you get through wealth disappears as soon as wealth disappears but what you achieve through knowledge will remain even after you."
