Afghans performing Zanjir-zani pay homage to Imam Hussain (a) By: Rafiullah
KABUL, Afghanistan: Marking the matchless sacrifices of Holy Prophet (s.w.)’s grandson Hazret-e-Imam Hussain (a.s.), marasem-e-azadari, or the husseini mourning rites, were continued in Afghanistan on Tuesday.
Majales-e-aza, that began on the eve of Muharram first, are held on daily basis at mosques and husseiniyaat in all cities and towns of the country including capital Kabul, Herat, Mazar Sharif and Kandahar attended by flocks of husseini mourners. On Tuesday February 15, a grand husseini procession was taken out in Kabul. Thousands participated, recited elegies, and pounded their chests and head over the great sufferings of Hazret-e-Imam Hussein bin Ali (a.s.) chanting “Ya HUssain Ya Hussain”.
Zanjir-zani (beating backs with knives attached to chains) was also performed paying rich homage to the Chief of Martyrs Hazret-e-Imam Hussein (a.s.) who irrigated and nourished the tree of Islam with his holy blood. END |
