Tasu’a Day commemoration report from various countries

KUALA LAMPUR, Malaysia: Marking Tasu’a Day – the ninth of Muharram -, which precedes `Ashura', believers worldwide were clad in black in mourning for Hazret Imam Hussain (p).

The faithful mourners worldwide take part in mourning processions on Tasu'a and Ashura, beating their chests, reciting dirges and weeping for martyrdom of the Prophet Hazret Muhammad (p)'s grandson about whim he said “Hussain is from me and I am from Hussain.”

It has been reported from Hazrat Imam Jafar As-Sadiq (AS) that Tasu’a is the day when army of Yazid (L) besieged Imam Hussain (p) and His companions to fight against them.

Tasu’a Day ceremonies – majales, Zoljenah and standards of Hazret Abbas (p) processions, zanjirzani, qamazani, tatbeer (hitting heads and backs with swords and razor blades) - were held in Iraq, Iran, Syria, Lebanon, Egypt, United States, Britain, Belgium, the Persian Gulf littoral states, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Greece, Japan, South Korea, India, Italy, Malaysia, Indonesia, Turkmenistan, Russia, Tajikistan, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Jordan, China, South Korea, United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Oman, Kuwait, Germany, France, Holland, Switzerland, Sweden, Chile, Turkey, Philippines and many other countries.

On the route of the mourning processions on the Day of Tasu’a, sabils of drinks were launched for mourners. There were also free food services for the mourners, some of whom observed night vigil.   

Hundreds of thousands mark Tasu’aa Day, Ashoura Night in Karbala HOLY CITY OF KARBALA, Iraq: Marking Tasu’a day (9th Muharram) and the Ashoura night (night before the Ashoura Day), the atmosphere in Iraq particularly in the holy city of Karbala was very grieved on Friday and sky over the holy shrines was red in color, while violence on the day left more than two-dozen Husseini mourners martyred.
