Layla-tol Ghorabaa commemoration in Holy Karbala

HOLY CITY OF KARBALA, Iraq: Marking Layla-tol Ghorabaa known as Sham-e-Ghariban, hundreds of Husseini mourners took to streets of holy city of Karbala that houses the holy mausoleums of Al-Imam Al-Hussein (p) and his brother Al-Abbas (p).

Men, women and children even infants wearing black mourning dresses and holding candles participated in the procession. They were chanting dirges on the martyrs of At-Taff (Karbala) with condemnation to the oppressors.

Persian term Sham-e-Ghariban which means Layla-tol Ghorabaa in Arabic marks 11th Muharram night 61 AH after the unjust slaughter of Al-Imam Al-Hussein (p) and his faithful companions, when the chaste ladies of the House of Prophethood were all alone in the desert of Karbala, no man was left with them save Al-Imam Ali bin Al-Hussein As-Sajjad (p) but he was severely ill.

Expressing deep grief with wails and tears, the procession culminated at the holy shrine of Al-Imam Al-Hussein bin Ali bin Abi Talib (p).

No sacrifice is greater than that of Sebt-or Rasul (p), and no night is darkest on Ahlo Bayt Al-Wahi (p) than Layla-tol Ghorabaa!!

Hena of Qassem bin Al-Hassan (S) observed in Holy Karbala HOLY KARBALA, Iraq: With the Ashura – the gruesome day when the son of Ali (s) and Batoul (S) and grandson of holy Prophet Muhammad (S), Al-Imam Al-Hussein (S), was slaughtered unjustly in the burning plain of Karbala along with his 72 faithful companions at the hands of Yazid (L) - approaching, mourning ceremonies are touching height in the holy city of Karbala.
